NUTRITION:
What is health without good nutrition? Consuming adequate building blocks to make a strong body by eating a wide variety of greens and colorful fruits and vegetables that will supply your body with sufficient nutrients. They’re necessary to repair itself and to continue to fuel cellular functions that are essential to life.  Rich green leafy vegetables supply vitamin A, C, E, K, and B vitamins which many people are deficient in.  Although I try to take in the recommended daily allowance of protein, vitamins, minerals etc, I often times fall short and for this reason I supplement my diet with multivitamins, calcium and vitamin D and B complex. For many women we need iron as ferrous sulfate 325mg and to enhance absorption, consume it in an acidic environment with Ascorbic acid, vitamin C. Starchy colorful vegetable and fruits 🍉 mixed into the dish adds visual appeal, sweetness and texture to the salad. Blueberries are a perfect antioxidant and in this case also added for color and sweetness. GROCERY/STORAGE:
Maintaining fresh greens is important, I like to buy produce for my family from Aldi’s Grocery Store, (https://www.aldi.us) and I store them in fresh veggie containers by Tupperware Fridgesmart(https://www.tupperware.com/fridgesmart-small-deep.html) and I line them with paper towels to absorb excess moisture. They extend the life of produce significantly. So I'm able to buy a bit more and reduce the trips needed to go to the grocery store.Tupperware Fridgesmart containers |
Kitchen Sink Salad:
Use a variety of greens you have in your refrigerator as the name implies.
Greens: arugula,spinach, cilantro, green onions, kale chopped
Roasted Sweet potato
Roasted butternut squash
Roasted Carrots
Blueberries, fresh
ROASTED VEGGIES:
Roasted butternut squash and carrots. Preheat the oven 400° and roast on convection for 30 minutes or until fork tender. Before roasting coat vegetables with a light sprinkle of olive oil. Fresh or prepackaged ginger paste, nutmeg, cloves, thyme, cinnamon, allspice cayenne pepper, stevia.
