That is what we will all see next.
New York Stay at Home order signage on Route 27 |
Signage in store fronts proclaiming, those immune may take part in the public arena. Currently, there isn't a true public arena where everyone is participating in the United States commerce engine. We, New York1 and huge swath of the country are leading the world in shutting down open public activity to prevent the spread. We are to "Stay home", just like the sign says on the major thoroghfares on Long Island and I can surmise on other highways in our state.
The acronym COVID stands for Chinese Originated Viral Infection. Similar to MERS, Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, both are corona viral diseases. Important in knowing the origin as the name implies, epidemilogy relies on these designations to appoint specific characteristics, signs and symptoms to the illness.
UPDATE: WHO has declared that COVID-19 is a reference to the Corona Virus Disease 2019.3
During this covid-19 pandemic, experts from the CDC2 and within our own field are leading in educating the rest of us on what we need to change and institute to remain safe. We use “Evidence-based-dentistry” because it’s what we have been taught, and now the new buzz phrase and in my opinion synonymous for “Tell/Show/Do” as I have spoken about in my previous blog.
Current Guidelines:
1. Wash your hands often especially after touching surfaces like door knobs, pens signage pads, phones, and clip boards.
2. Avoid touching your face.
3. Disinfect frequently used items and surfaces.
4. Use a face covering while in public or in close approximation where social distancing is not possible.
6. If you feel sick, stay home to prevent spreading.
7. Utilize social distancing, 6 feet apart, two arm lengths.
8. Temperature checks of you and your staff.
9. Develop a policy for workforce contact tracing
